Hello, I’m the Dogtor (pronounced like doctor). I’m going to be heading to grad school for the fall semester and figured I’d enjoy playing AOC (especially since there is some strong progress being made). I may have times where i’m unable to play for several hours and just have time for one or two things; but overall I plan to have AOC as my only MMO.

I come from a rather weak MMO background where I grew up only playing DS and Gameboy games or kid computer games before buying my first RPG game called Two Worlds I (loved it despite its flaws). Several years later I found Riders of Icarus and loved it but grew away from it just recently when it was sold to a new company and has continued dying, and with the deleting of the forums which means all the info on building your character are gone.

I have always played a tank class (more dual wield with maces and hammers or large swords vs sword and shield) along with archers/rangers and wizards/mages. I enjoy all unless one is marked easy in which I will forgo that class until a later time (since there seems to always be an over abundance of the easy class). I prefer to have a more challenging class that can still solo without having to have only high level gear or large spell combinations (looking at you ROI)- this is usually where the magic class falls short. I am not sure about Assassin classes since some games say Assassin is dual wield with reliance on avoiding attacks and having good weapons, and other games say it’s all in to move combos. Other than that, I have played games like Lol (liked it but could never find time for more than one match because of college), hearthstone (love it), Minecraft (my first multiplayer experience), animal crossing (just got it this year), and like one or two more. I grew up playing solo with no friends that were into the same games, and my siblings eventually didn’t have time to play anymore either (or just didn’t like the games I played).

For AOC, I don’t know what class I’ll play yet or even really what race. I definitely want to try out the summoner class if it summons animals and can solo, and will have to wait and see what the other classes look like (tank, mage, archer). As far as race, I’m thinking of Tulnar but ideally want to choose a race that has less of a population especially in the class I choose. If one has a bonus of some sort for animal husbandry, I might pick that one over another.
I plan on working hard on animal husbandry and probably crafting/ grinding mats in addition to helping out the guild in other ways. I’d like to work hard to be a valuable piece in the inner workings of the guild, along with the surrounding area; but I also want to have fun. I may not be a strong point in raids if they require people to stand in specific spots (like seen in Final fantasy) as opposed to moving freely with agro on the tank. I would love to learn though.

I guess that’s it for me. Can’t wait to see ya’ll on the battlefield.

You played riders of Icarus??? I loved that game but when I tried to come back to it like you my character was gone and the game was super glitchy. That was my first mmo (probably where my mount addiction began) but it's really gone downhill like you said tons of characters got deleted, the biggest active guild on one server is like 40 dudes, and there's almost no one in the overworld besides in the towns.

Yep! Started as a berserker (was on before they added ranger) then switched to Wizard. Was wizard for the past few years but it quickly became an almost unsoloable class (so now I'm cautious of magic classes) and at that point, all the guilds were dying. I joined like three or four and they all disbanded within about two weeks. I was able to make the switch safely but dropped the game at first due to the problems they were having: for a period of about 5-6 months, players would play 15 minutes and then the servers would go down for hours. The devs/mods would restart the server, get it playable for another 15-30 minutes and then it would go down again. It would happen over and over, even with players begging them to just take the servers down for maintenance for a few hours and fix the problem with the anti cheating software. After a year or so, I came back hoping to just play through for the sake of completion (or to at least say I reached end game), and by then the guilds were dead, forums removed (meaning you had to rely on old Youtube videos that mostly had wrong/ outdated info for class builds), entire servers almost devoid of other players except for what I assume are bots (making classes like wizard and healer almost unplayable since you needed to rely on a guild for regular progression). I removed and reinstalled a few times as wizard before deciding I would just play through as another character (as ranger, I've already made more progress in two weeks than I had in about 3-4 months as wizard). I figured I'd play ROI through, switch to and complete divine icarus (which is said to have stronger servers), and then hopefully switch to AOC (that way I can have my MMO fix without getting impatient about having to wait for AOC). However if AOC goes public before I reach the end, I'll probably just uninstall ROI/DI and play AOC full time instead. I agree with the mount addiction; I definitely have one too- especially rabbits, horses, dragons, foxes/ wolves, and large cats- basically anything fantasy as long as its not just the same animal with a different skin but the same model.
