Hello, I’m the Dogtor (pronounced like doctor). I’m going to be heading to grad school for the fall semester and figured I’d enjoy playing AOC (especially since there is some strong progress being made). I may have times where i’m unable to play for several hours and just have time for one or two things; but overall I plan to have AOC as my only MMO.
I come from a rather weak MMO background where I grew up only playing DS and Gameboy games or kid computer games before buying my first RPG game called Two Worlds I (loved it despite its flaws). Several years later I found Riders of Icarus and loved it but grew away from it just recently when it was sold to a new company and has continued dying, and with the deleting of the forums which means all the info on building your character are gone.
I have always played a tank class (more dual wield with maces and hammers or large swords vs sword and shield) along with archers/rangers and wizards/mages. I enjoy all unless one is marked easy in which I will forgo that class until a later time (since there seems to always be an over abundance of the easy class). I prefer to have a more challenging class that can still solo without having to have only high level gear or large spell combinations (looking at you ROI)- this is usually where the magic class falls short. I am not sure about Assassin classes since some games say Assassin is dual wield with reliance on avoiding attacks and having good weapons, and other games say it’s all in to move combos. Other than that, I have played games like Lol (liked it but could never find time for more than one match because of college), hearthstone (love it), Minecraft (my first multiplayer experience), animal crossing (just got it this year), and like one or two more. I grew up playing solo with no friends that were into the same games, and my siblings eventually didn’t have time to play anymore either (or just didn’t like the games I played).
For AOC, I don’t know what class I’ll play yet or even really what race. I definitely want to try out the summoner class if it summons animals and can solo, and will have to wait and see what the other classes look like (tank, mage, archer). As far as race, I’m thinking of Tulnar but ideally want to choose a race that has less of a population especially in the class I choose. If one has a bonus of some sort for animal husbandry, I might pick that one over another.
I plan on working hard on animal husbandry and probably crafting/ grinding mats in addition to helping out the guild in other ways. I’d like to work hard to be a valuable piece in the inner workings of the guild, along with the surrounding area; but I also want to have fun. I may not be a strong point in raids if they require people to stand in specific spots (like seen in Final fantasy) as opposed to moving freely with agro on the tank. I would love to learn though.
I guess that’s it for me. Can’t wait to see ya’ll on the battlefield.
