I would like to propose a Commerce Division in the guild.

Here are some thoughts on roles this division would hold:
  • Division manages a forum post on AoC forums/discord with offers and stock for trading.
This would be some kind of place allied guilds could look for buying items they need.
  • Division organizes bulk sales with guilds, and organizes caravan to deliver product.
It would be a way to sell location locked resources to distant territories.
  • Division employs pvp-orientated guild members to protect shipments.
This both helps the commerce division with selling bulk items, while also creating a good way for pvp players to pvp and contribute to the guild.
  • Division would order weekly caravans from branch locations to the centralized guild node.
Pvp-orientated guild members would have the opportunity to guard weekly caravans for KP/rewards.
  • Division works with the guild naval division for organizing sea-based transport.
A sea based node would be preferred for naval content and travel. =)
  • Division buys items below market value from guild members, regardless of demand.
This is so guild members don't need to risk travel to sell personal items.
The division can sell these items later; when the price has gone up or the opportunity arises.
  • Division would assist with the acquisition of raw materials for processors and/or crafters.
This would be beneficial for brewing potions and crafting equipment in bulk to supply guild members.
  • To be continued?
The Commerce Division would fit squarely into the zone for the Basic branch of the chain of command.

TL;DR
Step 1: Create a Commerce division of the guild directed to optimize guild and node economy.
Step 2: Profit.

I support this idea, but I am curious are we going to have a naval division @Xyphien ? Though Im not sure all divisions are gonna be self sustaining until later into the launch like half a year in because all are groups are gonna need quite a few members to fufill the rolls without overlapping like crazy.

Please remember that the guild will have a player cap (game rules, not Xyphien's). With that being said, no guild will be able to have a fully functional diverse team covering all aspects of the game. That sort of goes doubly for us being a casual guild.

If you are interested in doing a specific task or creating a "division" I think that's great, and if you can find others who would like to join your cause I think that's even better. Just remember that we (as a guild) won't be able to cover everything.

Coati, are you looking to build ships or just run them? Building them take a lot of time and resources (plus man power). And running them takes a crew, unless it's a smaller craft.

What @Ghandex said is very true. We will have several sub guilds depending on how large we become over time. (Max of 5) this is because of the alliance they have featured. There will be a max of 5 guilds allowed in a single alliance. My goal if we get large is to have all 5 covered by our own sub guilds. This being said, we already have 5 divisions in the guild. As of now I'm unsure how many people will want to be apart of this, so instead of creating an entire new division for it we should start out with it as the general/basic division and have it as a kind of sub division. We can have unofficial leaders, etc. As that section grows, if it does in fact get large enough we can then turn it into it's own division and go from there. I think this would be the best way to to it as of now to ensure we do not spread ourselves too thin off the bat.

@Coatimundi This is pretty much the same stance on naval divisions depending on if we go with a naval node or not.

@Ghandex Ima go where the guild needs me, but I would be interested in ship building or do some naval raiding. I'm here to plunder ye booty ;) But on a serious note I think it'd be worth exploring, but to be real I want to see all aspects of the game before I devote myself to anything. I just like the aspect of naval stuff because its one of my favorite kind of gaming biomes when done right(Aquatic, think subnautica), that and Jungles/ or Bamboo forests.

It will definitely be interesting to see how the alliances shape up to be. Time will have to tell w/ this as the guild grows and more information is released. Exciting nonetheless.

I'm very interested in the commerce side of the game and would be willing to help out however needed. I do agree that this probably falls under the umbrella of the "basic" category as the economy and guild relations seem like they'll be a large part of guild infrastructure. At least for the beginning trade probably won't be that big because we'll have to develop our resources and level up our crafting before we can even build ships to transport things via water. Not sure how long it will take to develop but I'm interested in being part of the planning and development when the time comes.
