I was under the impression that all 8 archetypes would be in alpha 1, I could be wrong tho. Xyphien could you link where you got the info for 5 archetypes?

Well either way, I hope we get to try all 8 archetypes but if not we'll test them out in alpha 2.

I'm sure we will get to testing Taverns at some point, I doubt I'll be an owner but I'll definitely be a patron. As for gambling, we still don't know how that's all going to work out from a legal stand point, so it may not happen the way that most people think or it may not happen at all. Keep in mind that there will be limitations to what we are able to test in alpha 1. it's possible that taverns and other freehold mechanics won't be available until a later date. I wouldn't expect to see the parlor games/gambling until the betas, but who knows.

EU might get pissy about the gambling thing but US may react differently depending on how they do it. Personally if there is no real money on the gaming in game then I see no problem with it. Plus they already said you cant buy shit on the game besides cosmetics so theirs no real way to fuel someone gambling addiction other than simulation with no real intrinsic effect. I'd support some gambling within the game if they made some kind of AOC cultural gambling games. For instance have the islander dwarves do a version of dice but with fish bones or something.

It's not about personal views or cultural reactions , there are actual laws that prohibit gambling of any kind in certain areas regardless of whether there is real world value to it or not. I know Steven is aware of this and it has been discussed a few times during interviews but I do not know what they are actually planning to do with it. If there was going to be an in game cultural difference to the games that would most likely be dictated by the tavern owner. Just food for thought, everything is in flux.

If thats the case I can almost guarantee gambling isnt gonna be in, but then again why did fable 1, or witcher 3 games get away with it? Actually theirs a couple games with mini games that you gamble. So that wouldn't make sense unless its like a brand new law that came out.

Region specific games are a thing and single player games don't have gambling, they just have things that look like gambling. You can't really gamble against yourself. I also know there are loopholes depending on how it's done I just don't know enough of the specifics to give any validation one way or the other, just saying it might not happen.

You're able to gamble in game currency as long as there's no real world gain from it no matter what. Zenga Poker, Poker Stars, GTA V and their Casino. It's all legit, full on gambling, but there's no real world benefit so it's not technically illegal.

Edit: Some countries may ban the gambling feature like they did Grand Theft Auto's, but there's no legal action they can take on the game for including such a mechanism. Only reason I can see that would give them justification to ban it is the fact that you can buy GTA currency with real world money.
